Billing Types for Billing Milestones

To allow you to base invoicing rules on the project plan, you can now associate billing milestones to tasks. A Billing Type drop-down menu is available when creating billing milestones, where you can select:
- Upon Task Completion—The date to invoice is the due date of the task you select.
- Fixed Date—The date to invoice is the date you select when creating the billing milestone.

Multiple Currencies in Account Financials

View financial data for all projects on the Account Financials page. Previously, only projects that matched the account currency appeared. Now, you can:
- Choose the currency type you’d like to see summary information for on the chart and in the Revenue by Period table.
- View all projects in the Revenue by Project table, grouped by their currency type.

February 23-27 Additional Enhancements
Kantata AI
- Improved the Project Agent’s ability to add unnamed resources to a project. Changes include being more responsive to prompts that use natural wording instead of Kantata-specific terminology, referencing the roles on the project rate card, asking for clarification when the term you use matches multiple roles, and suggesting similar roles when the role you mention is not on the project rate card.
Resource Management
- Made performance improvements to various actions in the Resource Center.
- Fixed an issue that was preventing some users from reassigning or adding resources to projects in the Projects tab of Resource Center.
- Removed an error message that appeared previously when Resource Recommendations was activated and a user without permission to view Recommended Resources opened the Resource side panel. Now, users can open the side panel and staff resources without seeing this message or seeing Recommended Resources in the Team Members drop-down.
- Fixed an issue in the Resource Center that was causing the page to go blank when using the Task Status filter.
Project Management
- Fixed an issue with Forms where the default setting selected for the Require Notes on Time Entries account setting was not being applied for projects created via a Form.
- Fixed an issue in the Global Tasks page that was causing the page to go blank when using the Task Status filter.
Financial Management
- Fixed an issue on the Account Financials page that was causing amounts to display in USD currency when the account default was a different currency and no other currencies were set in the account.
- Made further performance improvements to the Account Financials page.
- Improved performance of the Project Revenue page.
- On the Account Financials page, you can now filter by the Provider Lead in the Revenue by Project table.
- When you select Verify forecasted revenue in the Project Revenue panel or submit a project for approval, a lock icon appears in the Forecast column for all revenue tables to verify that the forecast amount has been locked for the period.
- Fixed an issue that was preventing some users with the proper permissions from viewing the Account Financials page.
Time and Expense
- Fixed an issue on the Time Approvals page that was causing some projects to appear unexpectedly when the Your Approvals filter was selected.
- Improved performance of the Time Approvals page.
- Fixed an issue in the Time Approvals page that was causing unexpected projects to appear when the Your Approvals checkbox was selected.
Reporting
- Fixed an issue where the Share button on the Manage Dynamic Dashboards page was not displaying.

February 16-20 Additional Enhancements
Kantata AI
- Fixed an issue that was causing errors in the Project Agent and Resourcing Agent for accounts that have accepted the updated Kantata AI terms and conditions.
- For accounts that have accepted the updated Kantata AI terms and conditions, the Project Agent can now provide a project close checklist of actions that the Project Administrator should complete when a project is nearing completion. The checklist includes finalizing time and expenses, removing future allocations and scheduled hours to free up resources, marking tasks as completed or archiving them, completing invoicing and revenue recognition, updating the project status, and archiving the project.
Resource Management
- Added a new column—Project Role—to the resource row in the new Resource Center tabs.
- Fixed an issue in Resourcing that was preventing the proper error message from displaying when staffing an unnamed resource.
Project Management
- All info tooltips on Forms now consistently display above the info icon. Previously, some tooltips displayed to the left or the right and text may have been cut off when the left navigation was collapsed.
Time and Expense
- Fixed an issue with timesheet approval notifications that was causing emails to send to the wrong people when a user did not have a manager assigned to them.
- Fixed an issue on the Time Approvals page that was preventing some projects from displaying when no filters were selected.
Reporting
- Renamed the Project: Revenue Recognition Method attribute in Insights to Project: LEGACY Revenue Recognition Method, which reports on the legacy Revenue Recognition Method field in project settings.
- Added the ability to report on the Revenue Recognition Method for the Revenue Management feature in Insights, using the new Project: Revenue Recognition Method attribute.
API
- When creating or updating billing milestones via the API, you can now set a billing type and associated task using the
billing_typeandstory_idparameters in the request body. These two fields are also now returned in the API response.
Integrations
- The Workspace Import scenario in the Flat File integration in the M-Bridge integration platform has been updated to support the following project template fields:
project_template_create_unnamed_resources,project_template_start_date,project_template_weekends_as_workdays,project_template_checklist_as_todos, andproject_template_distribute_hours.
Miscellaneous
- Fixed a visual issue with the project Actions drop-down menu where the left border was missing.
February 9-13 Additional Enhancements
Kantata AI
- The Project Agent can now shift a project plan in the case of a project pause or delay. This includes taking actions such as shifting task dates, allocated hours and scheduled hours and updating the project status and settings.
- The Resourcing Agent and Project Agent can now better differentiate between allocations and scheduled hours and require fewer confirmations from the user when creating and assigning hours to resources.
Resource Management
- Fixed an issue in Resourcing that was preventing users without permission to create allocations for named resources from staffing resources when the unnamed resource had alllocation assignments.
Project Management
- Fixed an issue on the Activity Feed where posts created by sending an email to the project workspace's unique email address were not displaying the sender's email address.
Financial Management
- Made further performance improvements to the Account Financials page.
- Fixed an issue in the project's Revenue tab that was preventing worksheets from being downloaded after a period was closed. Now, you can download them, even if a financial period has been closed.
- Fixed an issue in the Project Revenue panel that was preventing users from submitting project revenue for approval.
- Fixed intermittent errors on the Account Financials page.
Time and Expense
- Improved performance of the Time Approvals page.
Account Settings
- When updating an account role across projects for a user that is participating in a large amount of projects, an in-app message now appears to inform the updater that the process may take some time to complete. A new email notification has also been added to inform the updater that all updates were completed successfully or to list any projects that were not able to be updated.
Integrations
- Fixed the formatting of error messages that appear when creating project financial periods via Smart Upload Manager (SUM).
February 2-6 Additional Enhancements
Kantata AI
- For accounts that have accepted the updated Kantata AI terms and conditions, the Project Agent can now reference additional file types that have been uploaded to the project, including .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, and more. For a full list of supported file types, see the Project Agent Overview article.
Resource Management
- Fixed an issue in Resourcing areas that was preventing users from appearing in the Reassign Allocations modal.
- When a profile picture has not been added for an account member, the initials of the member's first and last name now appear in the Team Members column in the new Projects tab of Resource Center. This matches the appearance that was previously available in the new Team Members tab.
- Added two new columns—Parent Task and WBS—to the task row in the new Resource Center tabs.
Financial Management
- Removed the Recognize Historical Revenue button from the Project Revenue panel. For guidance and information on the recommended approach for recognizing revenue in past periods, please reach out to Customer Success.
- Updated column widths in the Billing Schedule table, preparing for a better visual experience when more columns are available on this page.
- Improved performance of the Account Financials page.
Time and Expense
- Fixed an issue on the Time Approvals page where timesheets for some projects were not appearing when the Your Approvals checkbox was selected. If manager time approval is allowed either from the project settings or account member settings, these timesheets will now appear as expected.
Account Settings
- Fixed an issue with the Project Accounting CSV export that was preventing CSVs from exporting when data in the Notes and Description columns contained special characters like commas and line breaks.
Miscellaneous
- For a more consistent look and feel, improved styling of toggles and buttons throughout Kantata OX.
- Fixed a styilng issue on the Notifications page that preventing unread messages from having bold formatting, making it harder to quickly identify which notifications had been read.

The Project Revenue chart now displays as a combination chart with:
- To date amounts for Recognized, Calculated, and Forecast amounts displaying as lines
- Recognized, Calculated, and historical Forecast amounts within each period continuing to display as bars
These changes allow you to more easily identify trends and track cumulative financial data compared to the focused data within each financial period.

During project creation—or from a project’s settings, you can decide if managers are allowed to approve time for their direct reports for specific projects. To make the Project Agent and Status Report Agent available to more users, users no longer need to be Project Administrators in order to use these agents. Only the Access Group permissions are required. Additionally, an Account Administrator must review and accept our updated terms and conditions in the Kantata AI Settings page if this hasn’t been done so already.
Note: With the updated Kantata AI terms and conditions, the following changes are also in effect:
- Each user in a project must activate the Project Agent individually. Activation is no longer project-wide.
- The Project Agent and Status Report Agent are automatically refreshed nightly.
- The Project Agent has access to only the 20 most recently uploaded files.

The new, configurable Resource Center tabs have been generally available since October. The legacy tabs are no longer visible by default.

January 26-30 Additional Enhancements
Project Management
- Fixed an issue with Pulse where project end surveys were sometimes sent to only one side of the project after the project was marked as completed.
- Fixed an issue that was preventing users from removing Account Administrators from their list of designated Time Approvers in the project settings.
Financial Management
- Fixed an issue that was preventing forecast amounts from automatically refreshing with the most up-to-date values every 30 minutes on the Account Financials page and in Insights. Information on the Project Revenue page still updates in real-time.
- In the Project Revenue side panel, you can now download the financial worksheet when the financial period has an Open status.
- For projects with a % Complete revenue recognition method, you can now see how the % Complete amount has decreased or increased compared to the previous financial period.
Time and Expense
- A Restore Approvers button has been temporarily added to the Time & Expense Settings page to help you restore your list of time approvers on projects. For more information, see Time & Expense Account Settings.

Kantata AI
- Fixed an issue with the Status Report Agent that was preventing status reports from being generated for accounts that have accepted the updated Kantata AI terms and conditions.
- Fixed an issue with the Status Report Agent that was preventing the status report from populating in the Create new post box after clicking the Start Activity Post button.
Resource Management
- Fixed the alignment of the Calendar icon in the Create Allocations modal in the new Projects tab of Resource Center.
Financial Management
- The sample import CSV file for Project Accounting now includes columns for the new Cost to Date, Forecast, and Revenue fields related to the early access Revenue Management feature.
- Fixed a rounding issue in the Project Revenue panel that was causing the Revenue amount to sometimes be off by a cent after submitting project financials for approval.
- Fixed an issue in the Project Revenue table on the Account Financials page where the Revenue to Date amount was not displaying properly when project financials were in a Submitted state.
Time and Expense
- Fixed an issue was preventing users from removing Projects Administrators from their list of designated Time Approvers in the project settings. However, if a Project Administrator has an Account Permission level of Account Administrator, they still cannot be removed currently and a fix for that will be coming soon.
API
- The create billing milestone API endpoint has been updated to prevent creating billing milestones if the project is missing a budget (
pricein the API).
Miscellaneous
- The Go to the Homepage link on the 404 error page now opens your selected homepage in Kantata OX instead of directing you to the Kantata website (kantata.com).
January 12-16 Additional Enhancements
Kantata AI
- For accounts that have accepted the updated Kantata AI terms and conditions, the Project Agent can now reference .csv and .vtt files and can no longer reference .doc, .docx, and .pptx files that have been uploaded to the project.
Resource Management
- When adding projects to resources in the new Team Members tab of Resource Center, you can now view up to 200 results when searching for a specific project, if that many matches exist.
Project Management
- You can now add up to 1000 people as designated time approvers on a project. Previously, this was limited to 25 people.
- Fixed an issue with the Rates & Roles page where no resources were appearing if any resource label contained an apostrophe or quotation mark. Resource labels can now include this punctuation.
Financial Management
- When Revenue Management is activated on the Early Access page, the Account Revenue and Project Revenue tables now include a Forecast column.
- You can now view override notes in the Project Revenue side panel by hovering over the OVR tag that appears when the revenue amount has been overridden.
Time and Expense
- Fixed an issue that was preventing managers who were allowed to approve time from receiving notifications when their direct reports submitted timesheets. If you are still experiencing issues with your timesheet notifications, contact Support.
Reporting
- When Insights Classic Scheduled Exports have been automatically deactivated due to continuous errors, editing and resaving them will now automatically reactivate them.
Account Settings
- If the Organizations feature is activated for your account, the All Projects option under View Account Financials, Submit Revenue For, and Approve Revenue For in the Financial Management Access Group set is replaced with All projects accessible to their organization.
- Fixed an issue that was causing data to not load sometimes on the Recent History and Project History pages.
Miscellaneous
- In the User side panel, long email addresses will now be truncated, with a tooltip available on hover to view the full email address.

Resource Management
- Fixed an issue in Resource Center where table headers and rows were misaligned after adjusting column widths, then switching between tabs.
- Fixed an issue in Resource Center where the blue triangle was not displaying in the bottom-left corner of external members' profile pictures.
- Fixed an issue in the Resource Center where users were sometimes unable to view task rows if they had access to resourcing only via Access Group permissions.
- Fixed an issue in the project's Resourcing tab where data in the timeline was not loading data properly after shifting allocations.
- Improved performance of the Remaining Hours filter in the new Team Members tab of Resource Center.
Project Management
- Fixed an issue with Forms used as project tabs where users with an account permission below the custom field's Read Permissions level were still able to see the custom field.
- Fixed an issue with creating a post in the project Activity Feed where you were unable to select yourself as a recipient on a Private post.

- Fixed an issue that was preventing users from associating an expense with an expense budget when they had project permissions to track expenses. Previously, only users with financial-level project permissions were able to perform this action.

- In Insights, the Shared Date attribute now displays the date to invoice when the report includes billing milestone data.
- Improved performance of the T & M Margin Analysis Analytics report.
Integrations
- A patch is available for Salesforce Version 2.11 to fix an issue where Kantata projects were being unarchived after the Salesforce Opportunity or Opportunity Line Item (OLI) was updated to a stage other than the stages selected in the Opportunity Archive Stage Values and Opportunity Stage Values integration options. To receive the patch, please contact Support.
