Overview
The Global Tasks and To Do Board shows a high-level card view of all your project’s tasks and To Do items. The ability to see everything in the same place helps you better organize and manage several tasks and other trackable items as you’re contributing to multiple projects.
Global Boards offer customized lanes, commenting options, and the ability to separate project tasks from smaller To Do items, enabling your team to visualize and prioritize tasks more effectively and ensure every project is completed on time, every time.
To access the Global Board, hover over Tasks in the left navigation and then click Boards. From here, you can select Tasks or To Dos in the toolbar to display the Global Tasks Board or Global To Do Board.
Global Boards Toolbar
Both the Global Tasks and To Do Boards have various actions and tools available in the Boards toolbar:
- Views
- Board Selector
- Filters
- Lanes
Views
With Views, you can use different combinations of the Board selector option, filters, and lane selection to determine how Board information displays, and then save these configurations for future use. This way, you can switch between different views and get the information you need without having to manually re-configure the Board every time you use it.
After saving one or more views, you can access them from the Views drop-down menu. Click on the More
icon to access the Views actions menu: Rename View, Set as Default, Delete View.Board Selector
When To Dos are enabled, you can quickly switch back and forth between the Global Tasks Board and To Do Board by clicking the corresponding options in the toolbar.
Filters
Filters are useful for viewing only the task or To Do information you are interested in and hiding the rest. Click the Filters button to open the Select Filters modal, where you can combine various elements to create a filter that fits your needs. You can save any combination of chosen filters for future use as a Saved View.
The following filtering options appear in the Fields section when viewing Tasks:
- Assignees
- Roles
- Task Status
- Type
- Task Level
- Start Date
- Due Date
- Projects
- Groups

Lanes
Both Global Boards have individual lanes that visually separate and organize cards based on specific task or To Do data.
There are two available lane sets to select from:
- Status—Organizes the cards by status
- Due Date—Organizes the cards by due date: No Due Date, Overdue, Today, This Week, This Month, and Future. There is an additional lane in this set called Completed for all completed tasks that no longer have an active due date.
Additional lanes can be created by creating a task custom field set that has a single select Choice option with a maximum of 20 options.
You can move a card to a specific lane by clicking and dragging it to the new lane. Please note that moving a card to a new lane will update the task or To Do's data to match that lane’s specifications. For example, if you move a task card from the Started lane to the Needs Info lane, the task’s status will update from Started to Needs Info.
Global Card Sections
In the Global Tasks or To Do card section, you can add, edit, and organize the individual cards. Each card represents a task or To Do that needs to be completed by yourself or a team member in the various projects you are contributing to.
At the top of each card is the project title and project color (if enabled), which helps you to quickly differentiate which card belongs to which project. Click on an individual card to view the task or To Do card's details.
Card Section Actions
In a Tasks Card section, you can perform the following actions:
- Add description
- Add due date
- Track time
- Add estimated hours
- Add assignees
- Add an associated To Do
- Add a tag
- Assign a parent task
- Create and reply to a post
- Select task custom field options
- Duplicate a task
- Delete a task
In a To Do Card section, you can perform the following actions:
- Add assignees
- Add due date
- Add estimated hours
- Edit the To Do's status
- Associate to a task
- Track time to the associated task
- Add a tag
- Create and reply to posts
- Select task custom field options
- Duplicate a To Do
- Delete a To Do
You can add a card by clicking Add To Do or Add Task in the lane you want to add it to.
