Recipe Catalog - Tasks: Apply Task Budgets to Project Budget

This recipe totals all task budgets and applies it to the project budget field as well as a project custom field that you specify. This recipe also totals the task estimated hours and saves it in a project custom field that you specify.

Overview

In Kantata, you can set a project budget as well as task budgets. These fields are independent and do not affect each other—allowing you to set an original project budget that doesn’t change as task budgets are added and modified. However, you may wish to consider the total of task budgets as the actual project budget.

This recipe totals all task budgets and applies it to the project budget field as well as a project custom field that you specify. This recipe also totals the task estimated hours and saves it in a project custom field that you specify. This recipe is triggered anytime the budget or estimated hours on a task are updated.

After Importing the Recipe

1. In the Projects section on the left-hand section of the home page, select the Catalog Imports project.
   Note: If you moved a recipe to a different project, select that project instead.
2. Select the Settings tab.
3. Select the Project Properties subtab.
4. Select the Edit (“   ”) icon for the catalog_project_total_amount_custom_field_id project property.
5. For the Value, enter the ID of the project custom field to save the sum of task budgets in. This must be a Currency field.
6. Select the Save (“   ”) icon.
7. Select the Edit (“   ”) icon for the catalog_project_total_minutes_custom_field_id project property.
8. For the Value, enter the ID of the project custom field to save the sum of task estimated hours in.
9. Select the Save (“   ”) icon.

Once you finish configuring the project properties, you can select Start recipe from the Assets list or Recipe Details page to allow the recipe to activate when a trigger event occurs.
