Learn about the Recipe Editor in Kantata Connect.
Overview
The Recipe Editor is where you build your recipe and configure all of its components to automate your workflows in Kantata Connect. You can access the Recipe Editor from the Recipe Details page by clicking Edit Recipe in the top-right corner.
The Recipe Editor page is split in two sections:
- Editor—Located on the left side, this section is where you add and modify your recipe’s trigger and actions.
- Side Menu—Located on the right side, this section is where you configure the input and output data for your recipe.
Selecting a trigger or action in the editor will result in fields appearing in the side menu that are applicable to that specific action.

1. Toolbar
Located at the top of the side menu, the toolbar has tools to help you with the recipe configuration:
- Find—Search for a field or value in the menu.
- Show optional fields—Add or remove optional fields.
- Reset—Reset the values in all fields.
2. Help Section
When applicable, this section displays help information and links to Kantata OX’s API documentation to assist you as you configure your recipe.
3. Data Fields
The data fields are where you configure the data that will be used for the recipe. Specific field types have icons on the left side of the field to indicate which type of data can be entered in (e.g. text or numbers). Below the fields are descriptions—supplied by the Kantata OX API documentation—that explain what each field is used for.
To create a trigger condition, scroll down to the bottom of the field list and toggle the Set trigger condition to ON. From here, you can specify the trigger data, condition, and value.
To learn more about creating trigger conditions, see the Creating a Recipe in Kantata Connect article.
4. Recipe Data Modal
The Recipe Data modal is a useful tool to quickly add data to the recipe. The modal has a list of available datapills—which contain output data from a previous step in the recipe—that you can drag and drop into the fields.
