In Notification Settings, you can set what notifications you receive, how often you receive them, and where you receive them.
NOTE
Some email notifications—such as project invitation, invoice submission emails, and email or password change emails—do not appear in Notifications Settings and cannot be disabled at this time.
Channels
- Email—Receive an email notification instantly or within 25 minutes of an activity.
- Daily Summary—Receive a bundled digest email of project posts once a day. The email is sent between 4 pm and 5 pm (based on the Time Zone set in your Profile settings).
- In-app—Receive in-app notifications. For more information, see the Notifications article.
- Slack—Receive notifications in Slack. For more information, see the Setting Up Slack Notifications article.

The Week Ahead—Receive a weekly email showing what tasks are due, past due, or starting soon. The Week Ahead email is sent early Monday morning between 1 am and 2 am (based on the Time Zone set in your Profile settings). If you have not specified a time zone yet, the UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) time zone will be used.
Note: If the Turn on Week Ahead Emails for Account Members option in Settings > General > Email Settings is disabled on your account, you won’t see The Week Ahead option in your Notification Settings.
Notification Types
Posts, Tasks, and Projects
- All Posts—Choose to receive notifications about all activity posts that occur within a project’s Activity Feed.
- Relevant Posts—Choose to only receive notifications about relevant posts. Relevant posts are those that directly @mention you, posts that contain your full name, posts that mention all associated users (@all), private messages, replies to posts you have created, and posts that you have replied to. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for relevant posts.
- Direct Mention Posts—Choose to only receive notifications for posts that directly @mention you or contain your full name.
- All Tasks—Choose to receive notifications for updates on all tasks.
- Relevant Tasks—Choose to receive notifications for only the tasks you're assigned to. You'll be notified when you're assigned to a task and when a task date or status changes. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for relevant tasks.
- All To Dos—Choose to receive notifications for updates on all To Dos.
- Relevant To Dos—Choose to receive notifications for only the To Dos you're assigned to. You'll be notified when you're assigned to a To Do and when a To Do date or status changes. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for relevant To Dos.
- New Issues—Choose to receive notifications for new issues created in projects in which you are participating. Issues prevent a task or project from being completed. By default, you receive in-app notifications for new issues.
- Project Status Updated—Receive a notification when the status changes in your projects. (Note: If you’re an external participant on the client-side of a project, you won’t be notified when the project status is updated.)
- Project Date Updated—Receive a notification when the start or due date changes in your projects.
- Project Budget Updated—Receive a notification when the budget changes in projects where you have permission to view financial information.
- Project Budget Change Proposed—Receive a notification when a project budget change order is submitted.
- Project Budget Change Approved—Receive a notification when a project budget change order you proposed is approved.
- Project Budget Change Declined—Receive a notification when a project budget change order you proposed is declined.
- Project Schedule Change Proposed—Receive a notification when a project schedule change order is submitted.
- Project Schedule Change Approved—Receive a notification when a project schedule change order you proposed is approved.
- Project Schedule Change Declined—Receive a notification when a project schedule change order you proposed is declined.
NOTE
For task and project update notifications, if you were the person that made the change to the task or project, you will not be notified.
If a budget or schedule change order was proposed by someone on the provider side and there are no client-side financial users, you’ll only be notified if you’re a provider-side Project Administrator. Otherwise, you’ll be notified if you're on the client-side and have View Financial permission or above.
If the change order was proposed by someone on the client side, you’ll be notified if you’re on the provider-side and have View Financial permission or above. If there are no provider-side financial users, you’ll be notified if you’re a client-side Project Administrator.
Time & Expense
- Timesheet Approved—Receive notifications when your submitted timesheets are approved. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for this.
- Timesheet Rejected—Receive notifications when your submitted timesheets are rejected. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for this.
- Timesheet Submitted*—Receive notifications when timesheets are submitted. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for this.
- Expense Report Approved—Receive notifications when your submitted expense reports are approved. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for this.
- Expense Report Rejected—Receive notifications when your submitted expense reports are rejected. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for this
- Expense Report Submitted—Receive notifications when expense reports are submitted. By default, you receive email and in-app notifications for this.
- Track Time Reminder—Receive a notification at the beginning of the week reminding you to track time for the previous week. You'll get this notification if you tracked less time than your workweek hours.
- Track Time Reminder - Direct Reports—Receive a notification at the beginning of the week reminding you about your direct reports that need to track time for the previous week. You'll get this notification if your direct reports tracked less time than their workweek hours.
- Submit Timesheets Reminder—Receive a notification at the beginning of the week when you have tracked time for the previous week but not yet submitted a timesheet.
- Submit Timesheets Reminder - Direct Reports—Receive a notification at the beginning of the week when your direct reports have tracked time for the previous week but not yet submitted a timesheet.
- Review Timesheet Reminder*—Receive daily reminders when timesheets are pending your approval.
* Note: If you are a designated approver in a project or have the Edit Financials project permission or above, you may receive notifications for timesheets belonging to people who are not your direct reports. If your account permission is Report Viewer or above and a project is open, you may receive notifications for timesheets belonging to your direct reports for projects you are not participating in.

You can unsubscribe from Insights dashboard emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email. For classic dashboards, Insights users with Can Edit permission can also manage scheduled Insights emails for everyone in the Advanced Editor. For dynamic dashboards, scheduled emails can be managed via the Schedule emailing option on a dashboard.
How to Change Your Notification Settings
- Select Notification Settings from the user Settings drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of the main app bar.
- Within the Posts, Tasks, and Projects, Time & Expense, and Weekly Emails sections, you can select the checkboxes associated with the notification type you want to receive.
- Click Update Settings to save changes to your notification settings for that section.
How to Change Notification Settings Per Project
You can adjust your notification settings per project. This allows you to override your notification settings on a case-by-case basis.
Mute or Unmute Project Notifications
In a project, select the Notification
icon located to the right of the project name to mute or unmute certain types of notifications from the project.When the Notification
icon has a slash through it, the project is muted and you will not receive post, task, new issue, timesheet, expense report, and project update notifications for this project in any channel. You will still receive other notifications such as invoice and resource request notifications.When the Notification
icon doesn't have a slash through it, the project is not muted and you will receive post, task, new issue, timesheet, expense report, and project update notifications from the project according to your preferences in Notification Settings.Change Email Notification Settings
- Open the Activity tab of a project.
- In the Email notification preference section in the right column, click Configure.
- In the modal that opens, update your preferences.
NOTE
These options only affect email notification settings for the project. In-app notifications are not affected. If the project is muted, you will not receive any email notifications from the project regardless of the settings you select here.
- Click Save to save changes.
