Learn how to print an invoice or save it as a PDF file using your browser's default Print dialog. Just follow our step-by-step instructions.
How to Print an Invoice
- In the left navigation, hover over Billing and select Invoices.
- On the Invoices page, locate the invoice you wish to print (or save as PDF) and select it. You can use the search function to find a specific invoice by person or project if needed.
- On the invoice preview page, select one of the available options above the invoice:
- Print Invoice—This will print the invoice as it appears on the screen, without the option to expand or collapse time entries and expenses.
- Print Collapsed Invoice—This option will summarize and collapse time entries and expenses under the Statement of Services, making it easier to read and understand.
- Print Expanded Invoice—This option will show time entries and expenses as line items under the Statement of Services, providing a more detailed view of the invoice.
- Once you have selected one of the options, the browser’s Print dialog will appear. Depending on the web browser you are using (refer to our list of supported browsers), adjust the options available to you to either print the invoice or save it as a PDF file. It is recommended to disable any Headers and footers options so that the invoice is less cluttered and more visually appealing.
- Finally, click on Print to send this invoice to a printer (or Save if saving as a PDF) and choose a new file name and destination.
How to Save an Invoice as PDF
The following is a brief summary of how to save an invoice as a PDF in our supported browsers, as the Print dialog may differ slightly depending on the browser used.
- Follow the general steps for printing an invoice as described in the section above.
- Depending on your browser, use the following instructions to complete the PDF export:
- Adjust any other print options as desired.
- Click Save and enter a file name and folder destination.

Google Chrome
To export an invoice as a PDF in Chrome, follow these steps:
- From the left navigation menu, go to Billing > Invoices.
- On the Invoices page, locate the invoice you wish to export and select it.
- On the invoice preview page, select one of the available options above the invoice, such as Print Invoice, Print Expanded Invoice, or Print Collapsed Invoice; the options available will depend on the invoice formatting.
- In the Print dialog box, select the Destination drop-down menu and choose Save as PDF.
- Under More Settings, deselect the Headers and footers option to make the invoice less cluttered and more visually appealing.
- Click the Save button to save the PDF to your desired location. You can also choose to rename the PDF file at this time.
Microsoft Edge
To export an invoice as a PDF in Edge, follow these steps:
- From the left navigation menu, go to Billing > Invoices.
- On the Invoices page, locate the invoice you wish to export and select it.
- On the invoice preview page, select one of the available options above the invoice, such as Print Invoice, Print Expanded Invoice, or Print Collapsed Invoice; the options available will depend on the invoice formatting.
- In the Print dialog box, select Save as PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF from the Printer drop-down menu.
- Under More settings, deselect the Headers and footers option to make the invoice less cluttered and more visually appealing.
- Click the Save button to save the PDF to your desired location. You can also choose to rename the PDF file at this time.
Apple Safari
To export an invoice as a PDF in Safari, follow these steps:
- From the left navigation, go to Billing > Invoices.
- On the Invoices page, locate and select the invoice you want to export as a PDF.
- On the invoice preview page, select one of the available options above the invoice, such as Print Invoice, Print Expanded Invoice, or Print Collapsed Invoice; the options available will depend on the invoice formatting.
- In the Print dialog, click Show Details located below the print preview to access additional options.
- Enable the Print backgrounds option to improve readability (Safari only).
- In order to make the invoice less cluttered and more visually appealing, it is recommended to disable the Print headers and footers option.
- From the PDF drop-down menu at the bottom of the Print dialog, select Save as PDF.
- In the secondary dialog that appears, specify the location to save the PDF. You can also choose to rename the PDF file and add additional information, such as title, author, subject, and keywords, to the PDF metadata before saving the file.
- Click the Save button to save the PDF to your chosen location.
Mozilla Firefox
To export an invoice as a PDF in Firefox, follow these steps:
- From the left navigation menu, go to Billing > Invoices.
- On the Invoices page, locate the invoice you wish to export and select it.
- On the invoice preview page, select one of the available options above the invoice, such as Print Invoice, Print Expanded Invoice, or Print Collapsed Invoice; the options available will depend on the invoice formatting.
- In the Print dialog box, select the Destination drop-down menu and choose Save to PDF from the list of options.
- Under More settings, deselect the Print headers and footers option to make the invoice less cluttered and more visually appealing.

TROUBLESHOOTING
If text copied from a PDF and pasted into another program appears as random symbols or letters, it may be due to incompatible fonts in the PDF. To resolve this, try using a different PDF reader or use the Copy With Formatting option in Adobe Acrobat, which can be accessed by right-clicking on the selected text.
